Commitment or Partnership Ceremonies express the bond of love between two people, heterosexual or same sex couple. This ceremony is for couples who, for personal or legal reasons, are unable to marry. Although not legally binding, Commitment Ceremonies allow a couple to declare their love and loyalty to each other by entering a life partnership, witnessed and supported by their family and friends.
A Commitment Ceremony can be conducted in much the same way as a wedding ceremony. Couples are free to choose how they would like to share their union with family and friends in a way that reflects their personality, beliefs, interest and lifestyle.
My promise is to work together with every couple to create a ceremony from the heart. You’ll find that while I can offer you a range of options to incorporate into your ceremony, I do not have a ‘generic service’. I enjoy working together with couples to design a ceremony that is a true reflection of their partnership. You will have final approval of the ceremony and you will receive a presentation copy of the service and a Certificate of Commitment.
I am also happy to assist you in registering your Commitment Ceremony with the ICCR (International Commitment Ceremony Register). This service is used to create a permanent historical record of one of the most important events in a couple’s life. ICCR was created to recognise these unions on an international level.
Please note: A Commitment Ceremony does not involve any legalities, a wedding certificate is not issued and there are no legal benefits to having a Commitment Ceremony.
Every culture has a ceremony to name or welcome a new child.
A Naming Ceremony is a memorable way to welcome your baby into your family and community. I will assist you to create a personalised ceremony that introduces your child into the loving circle of your family and friends. It should be a joyous occasion that can also involve grandparents, siblings, relatives and friends.
This is a time to pledge your commitment to the care of your child’s physical and spiritual growth. It is also an occasion to announce the name chosen for your child and to celebrate its significance.
A special Naming Certificate is presented during the Ceremony.
Just as grieving is an individual journey – there is no right or wrong way to celebrate the life of someone we have lost.
When we lose someone we love, we grieve; feel deep sorrow, experience emptiness and hurt. In the midst of this difficult time, it is a blessing to also plan a funeral or memorial service that celebrates and pays tribute to their life.
As a registered celebrant, I have experience in creating personalised services to farewell loved ones. I specialise in creating ceremonies from the heart: that means creating a ceremony that will be a reflection of your loved one’s life, personality, values and beliefs. You’ll find that while I can offer you a range of options to incorporate into your ceremony, I do not have a ‘generic service’. I take the time to write a service with compassion, in a personal and respectful manner that honours the life of the one you have lost.
You may include music, poetry, readings, stories, photo tributes and memories in the service. Although I invite family and friends to participate in the ceremony, I understand that at this emotional time it can also be a very difficult thing to do, so personal involvement is optional.
To enhance the service you may also include religious or spiritual rituals of your choice, including lighting candles or releasing balloons. Above all, you have the final approval of the service so there will be no surprises. I will also provide you with a record of the ceremony as a keepsake.
